About Dr Zia
Dr Zia Arain Graduated from the University of Sindh in Pakistan and has travelled the world Practicing Medicine. Some of his most memorable years were spent as the Senior Surgeon on the M.S Kuala Lumpur, which sailed to Mecca from Singapore and Malaysia. Dr Arain provided care to the 2500+ passengers on the Cruise Ship treating a wide variety of illness from the common cold to appendicitis and delivering babies.
Since immigrating to Australia in the 1970’s, Dr Arain has focused on General Practice. He has over 40 years’ experience both working as a GP and running his own successful Medical Centre in Newcastle. It was here that he developed a special interest in Cardiovascular Diseases, Diabetic Mellitus, and Geriatric Medicine. Dr Arain works closely with the local nursing homes, ensuring the elderly members of the community receive the best possible care.
He is a member of the Australian Medical Association and the Royal Australian College of General Practice and has been a QPA Accreditation Surveyor for the past 20 years. A father and Grandfather, Dr Zia is a family man, and moved to Sydney to be closer to his Grandchildren, which fortunately led him to work with us here at Elm Rd. Warriewood. His calm nature makes him a winner with children, and he takes the time to explain his procedures and investigations within consults. His other medical Interests include Men’s health, psychological Disorders and Mental Health, Travel Medicine and Chronic Disease Management. His personal interests include playing Tennis, walking his dog, spending time with his family, and the Financial Markets.
Dr Zia Arain loves practicing medicine and loves to service his local community, providing care for several generations of the same families, some of whom continue to travel to see him today.
